DAY ONE

Leave for tour of Angkor Thom (comprising of the Bayon Temple, Bapoun, Terrace of Elephant and Terrace of Leaper King). The city of Angkor Thom, founded by Jayavarman VII in the 12^th century, was one of the largest of all Khmer cities and remained the capital until the 17^th century. Also visit Ta Prohm, the temple with the gigantic tree roots on the structure. 

After lunch near the temples, visit Angkor Wat temple, the Seventh Wonder of the world till late afternoon, climb up to Bakheng hill to enjoy viewing sunset then back to town for dinner at local restaurant and overnight stay in Siem Reap. 

DAY TWO 

This day will take you into the typical Khmer countryside to visit the Banteay Srey temple, the “Citadel of Women” or “Citadel of Beauty”, presumably referring to its size and the delicacy of its decoration and Banteay Samer built in the third quarter of the 12^th century. It consists of a central temple with four wings preceded by a hall and accompanied by two libraries, the southern example remarkably well preserved. Two concentric walls enclose the ensemble. Then continue to East Mebon temple and Pre Rup, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you visit Chong Kneas, which is located nearby to Siem Reap town and is the most popular floating village for tourists to visit. You can see the villagers’ unique lifestyle on top of the water with homes, schools, shops, and medical clinics all floating on the water.

DAY TWO

This day you’ll explore some of the popular temples in the Angkor complex. On this tour we’ll see Preah Khan, Banteay Prei, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, Pre-Rup. Lunch will be at a local restaurant and in the afternoon you can explore Banteay Samre, and Banteay Srey Temple.

DAY THREE

In the morning, you’ll go to see Beng Mealea temple which is around 68 Kilometers outside of Siem Reap town. Beng Mealea was built in the early part of the 12^th century by King Suryavarman II. It was built in a similar style to Angkor Wat and was also dedicated to the Hindu Gog, Vishnu. The name means “Lotus Pond” and although it was a Hindu temple, you can find some Buddhist carvings around. Like most of the temples at Angkor, it was deserted at some point and the jungle was left to take over. The stones lay in huge heaps, and there are trees growing among the towers and in the courtyards of the temple.

Then continue to Rolous Group. The Roluos group consists of three temples  known as Bakong, Lolei, and Preah Ko. These temples are some of the earliest examples of ancient Khmer architecture. Bakong temple was the official state temple inside the capital city of Hariharalaya. Lolei temple is a Hindu temple built in 893 AD by Yasovarman I, who dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Preah Ko temple was built in 879 AD and was also dedicated to Shiva.

DAY TWO

In the morning, we’ll leave to see Kulen Mountain, on the way to Kulen Mountain you will see Banteay Srei known as the lady temple. Kulen Mountain which is one of the most sacred spots in the whole of Cambodia. It’s where the ancient Khmer empire first started and it was also the quarry for many of the temples built at Angkor. It was here that King Jayavarman II claimed independence from the Java in the 804.

The name means the “Mountain of the Lychees” and is a significant spot to visit. When we get to the top of the mountain you can go for a swim in a tropical waterfall surrounded by thick jungle. We can also relax by the river and stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

DAY THREE

Visit Silk Farm at Pouk District. The Cambodian Silk Farm can walk you through the entire process of silk production in Cambodia from the cultivation of the mulberry bushes to the end product. On the way back you will see War Museum before continue to floating village which is the most popular floating village for tourists to visit. You can see how the villager’s life on top of the water with homes, schools, shops, and medical clinics floating on top of the water.

DAY TWO  

In the morning, you will continue your temple visit, including Prasat Kravan with unique brick sculptures, Pre Rup, the mountain temple, Ta Som, Neak Pean, a foundation built in the middle of a pool and representing the paradisiacal Himalayan mountain-lake, Eastern Mebon, guarded at its corner by stone figures of harnessed elephants, some of which are still in a reasonable state of preservation. 

Preah Khan, built in the 12^th century, was one of Jayavarman VII’s largest projects dedicated to his father. Preah Khan was much more than a temple with over 1,000 teachers it appears also to have been a Buddhist university as well as a considerable city. Preah Khan is located on the western edge of its own long baray, the Jayatataka, and a terraced landing stage at the end of the temple West-East axis access to the lake with a moat surrounding the city.

DAY THREE

In the afternoon, you can take an optional trip to Banteay Srey which is about 37 km outside of Siem Reap town. This temple means the “Citadel of the Women” and it’s thought that the fine carvings on the walls could only have been carved by women as men were not delicate enough. The pink sandstone structure is a unique temple because it’s one of the few which wasn’t built by a king, instead it was built by a councilor to the king. 

DAY FOUR
